What Are VOCs?
Volatile organic compounds are chemicals that off-gas into indoor air from building materials, furniture, paints, adhesives, cleaning products, and stored chemicals. Some are harmless. Others cause headaches, dizziness, respiratory irritation, and long-term health effects.
Common Sources
- New flooring, cabinetry, and furniture
- Fresh paint, stains, and adhesives
- Attached garages: vehicle exhaust and stored chemicals
- Certain drywall and insulation products
Signs You May Need Testing
- A persistent chemical or solvent smell
- Headaches or nausea that clear up when you leave
- Recent renovation followed by new symptoms
- You are buying a recently renovated property
How It Works
We collect air samples using specialized equipment to measure VOC concentrations. Results identify which specific compounds are present and at what concentration.
